Common Causes of Back Pain

Spinal degeneration and disc herniation are two of the most common causes of back pain. The spine experiences damage, deterioration, or trauma of some kind. Spinal degeneration is often age-related, with people over 40 more likely to develop the disease.

Sciatica is a pain that is experienced in the lower half of the back.  Whiplash is a type of injury that impacts the cervical spine, located in the neck area.

Back pain can also be caused by muscle strain or tendon breakdown. Injuries from accidents and falls can lead to somebody's back going out. Sports injuries, workplace injuries, and auto accident injuries are fairly common.

How to Prevent Back Pain

Practicing good posture is a great way to avoid future back problems. Staying physically active, eating healthy, using back stretches, and avoiding activities that have a high risk of injury. The best form of preventive care is to get regular maintenance adjustments by a chiropractor.

Testimonials

Reviews By Our Satisfied Patients

  • "Everyone in our 5-member family looks forward to appointments with Dr. Gailes. She is simply the best! She is a highly skilled and knowledgeable chiropractor who helps us feel better and who also teaches us different ways in which we can help ourselves and improve our own well-being. She is also one of the nicest people and we all think of her as a wonderful friend. We feel extremely fortunate to know her and have her in our Greenwich community."

  • "Dr Gailes was thorough, patient and truly interested in solving for the root cause of my pain (desk ergonomics, sleeping pillow, lumbar support, etc). I’ve always been reluctant to go to a chiropractor- cracking and popping scared me! I was very pleasantly surprised at the approach- warm compress, electro stimulation and manual manipulation. Was a relaxing experience and I felt a difference! Am looking forward to returning for more relief! Thank you Dr Gailes!"

  • "I'm commercial photographer and carry a lot of gear for the past 30 years. I met Dr. Gailes at a event and she convinced me I should try a treatment. I always had a my doubts about chiropractors, but she had a sweet manor and decided to give it a try. Wow, was I blown away how just one treatment gave me relief after years of abuse to my body. Very professional staff and office environment. I also have played sports and study martial arts for years. So you sports guys take notice, and let her do her magic!"
